HIA 2008 Chiangmai

Global change under drastic drives by scientific, social and politic evolution has called for rational and deliberative tools to support policy decision engaged to board array of development. Since multi-sector studies have demonstrated clear evidence that any policy process could provide impacts to the well being and health of people. To this concern, the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) has recently been developed to empower the societal justification. HIA is expected to ensure healthy public policy from the level of community up to country and international levels.

Since HIA recognized as a crucial tool in creating healthy society, Thai National Health Commission has agreed to host the 2008 Asia and Pacific Regional Health Impact Assessment Conference (HIA2008) during 8-10 December 2008 in Chiang Mai, Thailand with the aim to provide a forum for exchanging the knowledge and practices of HIA in the community, country and international levels leading to the commitment for further collaboratively developed process and methodology and to assure the sustainable social and economic development.

HIA 2008 with the theme of “Empowering People Ensuring Health” is a professional forum, gathering over 300 delegates in various fields related to health promotion, healthy public policy, and impact assessment. The conference will cover 5 main activities including pre-training courses, keynote speeches and panel discussion, paper and poster presentation, at scene conferences in 5 areas and Chiang Mai Declaration (see more in About HIA 2008).
