HIA 2008 Chiangmai

In cooperation with the National Health Commission Office (NHC), Sayamol Kaiyoorawong the coordinator of Project for Ecological Awareness Building (EAB) organized Workshop of Community Health Impact Assessment (CHIA) during 20-21 June 2008 in Nakhon Srithammarat with the aim to enhance the understanding of HIA as a potential tool helping community reach healthier development. There are approximately 25 participants from 6 provinces in the south join this two-day workshop. All participants were allowed to share the experiences on the impact of development projects in their areas and then the discussion on how CHIA could be applied to their cases was opened to the floor. At present, 9 communities plan to apply CHIA as a process to find the determinants of health of their communities. They are in the process to develop the proposal submitted to National Health Commission Office.
