HIA 2008 Chiangmai

The representatives of HIA 2008 organizing committee, including Ms. Somporn Pengkam from National Health Commission Office (NHC) of Thailand, and Mr. Suphakit Nuntavorakarn and Ms. Thunyaporn Surapukdee from Healthy Public Policy Foundation (HPPF) attended the “Workshop on Health Impact Assessment in Malaysia and Thailand: Sharing the Knowledge and Future Cooperation” with participants from academic, research institutes and government sectors in Malaysia. The workshop was organized on 12th June 2008, at University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, under the cooperation between HIA 2008 organizing committee and Dr. Mazrura Sahani from the faculty of Allied Health Sciences, University Kebangsaan Malaysia, with the aims to share knowledge and experiences of HIA in both countries as well as to establish future cooperation for HIA development in Thailand and Malaysia, including the HIA2008 Conference. During the workshop, the overview of HIA development and experiences of HIA in EIA of each country as well as HIA case studies were presented and discussed. In addition, Mr. Suphakit Nuntavorakarn, introduced the HIA 2008 Conference, which will be held on 8th – 10th December 2008 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and HIA 2008 Capacity Building Program to encourage Malaysian HIA practitioners to present academic papers in the HIA 2008 Conference.
